Hello

Hello! I'm Rebecca, a freelance arts practitioner working across curation, producing, project coordination & arts delivery. As a graduate from the Central St. Martins BA in Criticism, Communication and Curation programme, I approach my work with a curatorial lens. This means that I enjoy puzzling together lots of seemingly disparate experiences, narratives and cultural products to reveal new or hidden stories. Always working with a social focus with a belief in the power of the arts to transform and connect.

My current creative-action-research focus is on how the maternal, m*therhood, and matrescence intersect with the arts, from from a practitioner and an audience perspective. I'm particularly interested in 'divergent m*therhoods', a term I've coined to refer to the experiences of m*thers who do not exist within the dominant representations & constructs of motherhood, both as a lived experience & as an institution.

I also produce work and projects on the themes of food as tool for community togetherness, and the climate crisis.

I'm a member of the Emerging Curators Group 2024 and have a place on the upcoming group residency with the Scottish Sculpture Workshop

Work With Me

I have over 7 years of experience working professionally within the socially engaged arts and culture sector as a freelancer. My experience includes producing, project coordination, artist mentoring, communications, arts administration, participatory arts workshop delivery, and arts-led community event production.

I'm available for long term contracts for the above roles, as well as one-off or shorter term services such as creative consultation, bid writing, project design and mentoring. Get in touch if you'd like to find out more.

My Story

My professional experience began with RIG Arts, a socially engaged arts charity based in Greenock. I have continued working with them as a freelancer on-and-off for a range of projects since 2015, including working as the Project Coordinator for their Paisley projects: EVOLVE, a Creative Scotland funded project which is part of the Culture Collective and; Park Life, funded from the Community Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund from the Scottish Government.

I have proudly worked with a number of other socially engaged organisations including Rumpus Room, ArtLink Central, Camelon Arts, the YWCA and Glasgow Community Food Network. I'm a member of Spilt Milk, an artist-led organisation that aims to support the work of artists who are also mothers.

I'm available for long term contracts for the above roles, as well as one-off or shorter term services such as creative consultation, bid writing, project design and mentoring.
