Upside Down

2023

Drawing using children’s felt-tip pens and black and coloured ink pens.

I had thought this work wasn’t finished... (there were still blank space to fill and drawings to contextualise)... until I saw it hung like this.

The unfurled scroll, the slice of white page challenges the curator/ the programmer/ the gallerist to accept a rupture as an arrival.

Much like the unfurled m*ther-artist, still cocooned into a belly-soft life of care, challenges the curator/ the programmer/ the gallerist to accept this half-one (half-other) as a whole.

Working around my child’s drawings, letting go of control of the creative process, finding meaning in her doodles and finding thoughts in the process.
